I apologize for the long delay in writing this report. The new website is easier to use but I fear I am a slow learner. We have been very busy getting all the odds and ends completed. The power meter was finally set after much delay by SCE&G, which finally allowed us to remove the temporary power pole, install the sprinkler system and lay the sod.
I decided to use brick pavers on the entire driveway and walkway - eliminating the gravel sections originally planned. It is a much nicer finish and will help keep stones from being picked up (and tracked in) on shoes..
The final two coats of sealer have been applied to the floors. Kitchen cabinet pulls, teak floating shelves and teak bar top are all completed. The elevator has been installed and is awaiting a door lock before being tested and usable. Hardwood flooring was laid and finished in the elevator as well.
Light fixtures, ceiling fans and vent fans are almost complete. The lighting control system is working and will be refined over time. The buttons turn lights on and off now but will be programmed for scenes and lighting levels in the near future.
The weather has moderated but the air conditioner is on (there appears to be and electrical problem with the main floor unit that will be fixed next week). It always seems to happen - 115 degrees all summer and the AC is activated right as the temperatures fall to 75. Setting the units on the roof was an ordeal (they are not light). It is my hope that elevating the units will minimize the corrosion typical of oceanfront homes - I have known of units that have needed changing every three years. I will install a decorative screen to conceal the units from the oceanside.
The water is on and the hot water recirculating pump works well - 3 seconds for hot water at any fixture. I hope to get feedback on the showers and tubs once they are in use. I still have to set the benches in the upstairs showers as well as the shower heads.
Local artist Julia Anderson is scheduled to begin the mural today, September 24.
C/O inspection will be Friday. Final punch will begin next week, and furniture and accessories will start arriving soon thereafter.
