Weeks 17 and 18

5/21 - 6/1

Things have been very hectic for the past two weeks. My three year old niece was bitten on the ankle by a copperhead snake in her back yard - the hot dry weather has brought them out looking for water. We are caring for my sister's other children (7-months, 6 years, and 15 years) while she is recovering. I have recently learned a lot about snakes, their venom and treatment . Ellie is recovering well and should be released from the hospital on Friday.

I missed a week's update, so this report will cover the past two weeks. We have finished virtually all the punch work in preparation for insulating and drywall on the interior. I have made a few minor changes - added a closet in the bunk room, a niche for audio/video equipment in the theater room, a drop down screen in the theater room, etc. We passed the rough-in inspection yesterday.

The exterior trim crew has completed the hand railing on the front, added stair framing on the rear, and finished ninety percent of the crawl-space screening around the house. Painters, insulators and drywallers are all scheduled to begin their work in the coming days. The stucco was installed last week on the block piers and concrete columns (I changed the grey stucco on the plans to a shell tabby).

The upcoming focus will be on exterior painting, grading, installation of walks and driveway, landscaping and interior finishing. The complexion will change dramatically in the next few weeks.

We are still looking at the end of July, first of August for completion. I will be sending the completed operational agreement out for review this week.
